Itinerary
This Tour will include:

A four (4) hour guided bus tour of some of the settlements (towns) of South Eleuthera. Bannerman Town to Tarpum Bay and Return (via Wemyss Bight, Green Castle, Rock Sound) @ $99.00 per person. Tour is supplemented by DVD narration.

Bannerman Town – Photo Stop at Miller Plantation, believed to have been bequeathed to the inhabitants of that settlement by former plantation owner Sarah Miller.

Drive through the rustic settlements of Wemyss Bight and Green Castle. View subsistence farms along the route.

Rock Sound: Visit to Ocean Hole, a “bottomless” blue hole connected to the sea and teeming with fish, once explored by famed underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau; Visit to The South Eleuthera Mission, a 140-year old edifice, once used as the Methodist manse, and the town’s medical clinic, recently renovated by the local townspeople to house a library and museum.

Tarpum Bay, a picturesque fishing village. Visit to one of the oldest churches on the island, St. Columba Anglican (Episcopal) Church, established in 1849. Admire the architecture of the “Pineapple Houses” built when pineapple export was the island’s primary revenue earner.

Return to Rock Sound: Four Points Marina Village, the harbourside venue for a sumptuous traditional Bahamian buffet lunch, sip tropical infused concoctions at the cabana bar, while enjoying the entertainment of “Junkanoo,” a colourful cultural celebration. Also at Four Points, observe the recreation of typical scenes of “island-life,” like the baking of bread in an outdoor rock oven, as passed down through the generations from our ancestors; watch the “cracking” of conch (taking it from its shell) and making of this local seafood delicacy into a spicy local favourite; complete the afternoon with shopping for local art and handicraft.

Back to Bannerman Town – Enjoy more sights and scenes of our beautiful island, and reminisce about the day spent as an “Eleutheran Adventurer.”
